Who can participate?
846s serves BIPOC and historically marginalized youth and young adults, and welcomes families, educators, employers, and community members into the work. Final eligibility details are pending organizational confirmation.
Is there an age requirement?
Age ranges vary by experience. Specific age requirements are pending organizational confirmation and will be listed with each program.
Do I need previous drone experience?
No. Many participants begin with no prior experience. Discovery, simulation, and building sessions are designed as starting points.
What is FAA Part 107?
FAA Part 107 is the federal Remote Pilot Certificate required to operate a drone for commercial purposes in the United States. Ten young people have earned it through the growing 846s pathway.
Does everyone have to pursue certification?
No. Certification is one pathway, not a requirement. Many participants come for belonging, reflection, mentoring, or technical learning alone.
What is AIEI?
African Inspired Emotional Intelligence brings Emotional Intelligence into conversation with African proverbs, ancestral wisdom, storytelling, culture, lived experience, reflection, and collective responsibility. It is a culturally grounded and developing framework informed by practice and community learning.
Is AIEI therapy?
No. AIEI is educational and reflective. It is not therapy, a clinical diagnosis, or a substitute for professional mental health care.
Where do programs take place?
In parks, community centers, coffee shops, schools, neighborhood gatherings, virtual spaces, and at the 846s office and community home at Sabathani Community Center.

How can an organization host an experience?
Use the Partner With Us page to request a learning experience, workshop, or Drone Pop Up in your space.
How can employers participate?
Employers can offer career conversations, applied projects, mentoring, internships, paid assignments, and employment pathways.
How can someone volunteer or mentor?
Volunteers and mentors share time, professional knowledge, relationships, encouragement, and lived experience. Start with the contact page.
How can someone donate equipment?
Equipment donations including drone components, simulators, and laptops can be arranged through the Partner With Us page.
How are participant privacy and safety protected?
Participant names, photographs, quotations, and stories are only published with appropriate consent. Community drone missions begin with explicit attention to safety, privacy, permissions, and communication. Full policy details are pending organizational confirmation.
